DELTA GAMMA
Service for Sight
Delta Gamma fosters lifetime enrichment for members, promotes Service for Sight and partners with the Fraternity to ensure the future of our sisterhood. Our dedicated members and friends make the mission of the Foundation possible through service, awareness, and fundraising.
Volunteer service is at the heart of Delta Gamma’s work. Our sisters spend countless hours at the Akron Blind Center helping out and building relationships with the wonderful people that go there. Service for Sight has been at the core of the Delta Gamma mission since 1936 when a member who was blind, Ruth Billow, Eta-Akron, petitioned members to adopt "Aid to the Blind" as our official philanthropy.
Anchor Cheer
Our spring philanthropy event is Anchor Cheer! It is our 2nd Annual cheerleading competition that 21 chapters of both sororities and fraternities participate in to help raise money for our philanthropy, Service for Sight, which aids to the blind and visually impaired. The event consists of each sorority and fraternity choreographing a cheer about Service for Sight and a dance. To fundraise for this event, the members of our chapter set personal goals along with our chapter goal of $30,000. The individual teams all help to fundraise and we are selling team cheer bows and bandanas. One community event we are doing to raise money this year is CycleGiving. CycleBar Hudson donated all the profits from one class to our philanthropy. We are expecting over 500 people to attend the event and cannot wait!
