Dear DG, I honestly don’t even know where to begin, but I’ll start with a thank you. I want to say thank you for showing me that Greek life isn’t like what you see in the movies, because that’s what I came into college thinking. I let that thought keep me from going through recruitment in the fall of my freshman year but then on a whim I decided to go through recruitment the fall of my sophomore year and have been changed for the better ever since. My personality is different from the “typical sorority girl”, but that’s what makes all the difference. Even though I’m not super giddy, girly, or extremely social... I was still accepted with open arms into Delta Gamma and found girls who supported me through the worst times of my college career, and cheered me on through the most rewarding times of my college career. So basically what I am saying is go through recruitment even if you don’t see yourself as the “typical sorority girl”. No one has the same personality, and that’s what makes Delta Gamma so special. We all come together to form an amazing, and rewarding sisterhood despite our differences; and I promise you that you can’t find that anywhere else. Now as I enter my senior year as a Delta Gamma at Kent state, I am now realizing that the thank you I gave to Delta Gamma at the beginning of this letter isn’t nearly enough. Delta Gamma gave me so much, which means I need to give it so much more in my final year. xoxo, Allie DiCicco
