Dear DG,

If you would have ever told my senior year high school self that I would be in a sorority in college, I would have laughed at you. Joining a sorority was the last thing on my mind, until my high school chemistry teacher (who is now my GE sister!!!!) talked me into giving it a chance.

The stigmas and the stereotypes about sororities made me nervous while I went through recruitment, but after running home to Delta Gamma I came to realize, they aren’t true.

This chapter I joined are filled with some amazing women, women that inspire me to be my best self everyday.

Without this chapter, I would have never been confident enough to hold a position that is crucial to Gamma Epsilon.

Without this chapter, I wouldn’t have gained the leadership skills to attend Delta Gamma’s Lewis Institute.

Without this chapter, I wouldn’t have a had the support and assistance to scholastically excel, earning a 4.0 last semester.

Without this chapter, I wouldn’t have had enough courage to travel the world with four of my Gamma Epsilon sisters, leaving the United States for the first time.

Without this chapter, I wouldn’t have found my best friends, roommates and future bridesmaids.

Take a risk, and do something out of your comfort zone in college. Coming from a small town girl who grew up wearing Nike tennis shoes, t-shirts, windbreaker shorts and a basketball in hand 24/7, greek life is not only for the stereotypical girly girls that sorority life is made up to seem. Going away and having a fresh start changed me. Delta Gamma has helped me be more courageous, outgoing, loving and more confident in myself.

Gamma Epsilon, thank you for all the laughs, tears and memories. Thank you for giving me the best big, little and friends a girl could ever ask for. I am forever grateful to be apart of a chapter that means so much to me.

LITB,

Brynn Pennell
