When I went through formal recruitment for Panhellenic sororities in fall 2016, I did not know that my life would be forever changed after running home to Delta Gamma.
As a potential new member, I was extremely nervous to go through the recruitment process. No one in my family was ever involved in fraternity and sorority life; the only people I knew that were involved in fraternity and sorority life were some of my older friends from high school. I was extremely involved in high school, and I was having a hard time making friends my first couple weeks at Kent State. I am from Cuyahoga Falls, OH, so Kent was only about 25 minutes away from home for me. Even though I was so close to home, I wanted to make Kent State feel like my home away from home.
After going through the recruitment process (which, by the way, didn’t end up being scary at all), I ended up at Delta Gamma. The person who recruited me ended up being my big later on, and the person who still continues to inspire me and pushes me to be a better version of myself everyday.
I have three incredible littles that make me so proud, and an awesome grand little that makes me even prouder. I could not imagine my life without my sisters. As President of our chapter, these women continue to challenge and grow my perspective, and they make me a better sister, friend, and leader. Through all of the crazy nights living in our chapter house, the sisterhood events that make me feel bonded to my sisters, and participating in and hosting amazing philanthropies, I can truly say that Delta Gamma has given me far more than I will ever be able to give it.
I truly believe that you get out what you put in. I put my heart and soul into Delta Gamma, and it gave me more than I could ever imagine.
