DG Memories and Experience

Hi everyone!

My name is Maizy Joye and I am an uprising junior at Kent State University majoring in marketing and minoring in advertising. The best thing I have done since entering college, was going through recruitment. I love being apart of Delta Gamma, and I am so proud to be able to wear my letters everywhere I go!

I came to Kent State in 2018, and was very lonely my freshman year. It was just my roommate, Caroline Bootes, and I against the world. It was hard making friends, and we often found ourselves in our dorm room each night having nothing to do. When I came back to school as a sophomore we both decided to go through recruitment not knowing where the journey would take us. I am so grateful we both made the decision to do this, because we both ended up joining Delta Gamma together. It has only positively effected my life and I am thankful each day for the women in this chapter. Since joining Delta Gamma only a year ago, I have pushed myself further than I ever thought I could. I have taken on a position (Director of New Members), I have made lifelong friends, and I have become passionate about learning and giving back to our philanthropy, Service for Sight.

If you are thinking about going through recruitment, do it. Greek life has helped me develop my social skills, has helped me network more efficiently with employers, and has also helped me become more successful within my classes. Having a familiar face in each one of my classes and even seeing someone I know on campus, has really helped me branch out and become more confident within myself.

Delta Gamma has THE most genuine women. Walking into the room during Open House round I knew instantly that this was where I belonged. I have surrounded myself with so many amazing people, and I know I will be taking away so many amazing memories from Delta Gamma years after my college career ends.
