Go Greek! - Bid Day 2024

Fly Delta Gamma! This catchy phrase encompasses our theme for our 2024 spring bid day. On February 11th, 2024, we welcomed 10 amazing new members to our chapter! This day was filled with all shades of red, white, and blue as we allowed our newest members to fly home to dee gee! Once the new members arrived, everyone instantly began eating some ‘airplane food’ inspired snacks, and taking fun photos in the balloon pit. This day could not have turned out as beautiful as it did without the amazing help of Ella Breon (VP New Member Education), Nima Hurdt, and Hannah McDonald (VP Membership). We are overjoyed to welcome these amazing women to our chapter!

I have asked an older member of our chapter for some advice to our newest members:

“My advice for our new members is to keep trying to connect. Invite a sister you’ve never spoken to out for coffee. Volunteer at an event that may be outside of your comfort zone. Take the time to ask a sister how they’re doing or that you’re proud of them. People notice when you make the extra effort, and you may find some of your closest friendships this way!”

Our Vice President of New Members has shared some of her favorite memories from her first bid day:

Hello! I’m Ella Breon and I am Gamma Epsilon’s Vice President of Member Education. Planning spring bid day was something I had been super excited about from the beginning. I worked with the chapter to send me ideas and then created an inspiration board with my director so that we could get some ideas of what people liked. We had everyone vote and our theme was Fly Delta Gamma! This theme had never been done before and I have seen it become trendy for sororities who have Delta in their name.

I believe that bid day is one of the most important days where our new members deserve to be celebrated. I took that job very seriously and made sure that the new members were given many gifts and activities to enjoy their special day. One of my favorite decorations was our inflatable pool that we filled with red, blue and white airplane balloons. We gave each new member a passport book to take pictures and put in the book and we got them all ascots to wear like flight attendants!

My favorite part of the day was the beginning when we opened the doors and the chapter greeted them instantly with excited chants and cheers. The smiles on their faces were infectious and I am so happy I was able to make my bid day visions come to life.
